Restaurant Manager - A Comprehensive POS System

Wow! The POS in the restaurant industry is getting exciting! The latest technologies that have been brought in to the restaurant environment like restaurant handheld POS devices is a case in point. I just took a gander at the product named "Restaurant Manager" for example and am pretty impressed.

In a few words, here is what it does. At the table, in the bar, where ever a handheld tool uses handwriting recognition to create a POS system that is used like a pencil and pad. Waitstaff enter an order, send it to the kitchen by touching the screen with their stylus. The whole waste of time, steps and a red face is eliminated as the kitchen system recognizes the order, records t , checks the inventory and makes a work order if one is necessary. Servers are able to work with the customer at table side and give immediate answers on the menu, availability, dish composition, the wine list etc. Your wait staff stays on the floor and is able to react on an immediate basis to any event occurring there. A further benefit is that fewer wait staff are needed to accomplish a much improved customer experience. For many years the restaurant industry have known the inefficiency of traveling between the kitchen or POS screen and the table to enter/check orders and menu status. Handheld devices have been used in the industry for almost twenty years but only very recently to finally eliminate the classic problem - having to process an order twice.

The touch screens used by Restaurant Manager are essentially intuitive. The consequence is to decrease training time and increase employee productivity. Available on the table layout screen are the current status of every table in the house, and onscreen lists of all menu items and availability.

From a management point of view, the system offers date on weekly promotions or daily menu changes. The built-in Event Scheduler allows management to program events that are automatically activated at a specified time. Messages can be entered to appear on screen, making sure all employees are informed and current.

The comprehensive reporting package includes tracking of real-time sales results and other data. While these features are highly desirable form a customer service and a management point of view, control over front-of-the-house operations is radically simplified and security and control are actually enhanced. The reports available like real-time sales statistics, product mix reports, employee check-in stats and server sales allow management to spend more time with customers and maintain an in depth control function updated on a real time basis.

The system is developed and marketed by Restaurant Manager by ASI (Action Systems, Inc.). With integrated modules for table service, delivery, quick service, drive-thru and clubs, Restaurant Manager offers solutions for the entire food service industry and can be quickly modified for use in any food service business, from a four-star fine dining restaurant to a national pizza delivery chain.
